چکیده

We consider the problem of quickly localizing multiple targets by asking questions of the form “How many targets are within this set” while obtaining noisy answers. This setting is a generalization to multiple targets of the game of 20 questions in which only a single target is queried. We assume that the targets are points on the real line, or in a two dimensional plane for the experiments, drawn independently from a known distribution. We evaluate the performance of a policy using the expected entropy of the posterior distribution after a fixed number of questions with noisy answers. We derive a lower bound for the value of this problem and study a specific policy, named the dyadic policy. We show that this policy achieves a value which is no more than twice this lower bound when answers are noisefree, and show a more general constant factor approximation guarantee for the noisy setting. We present an empirical evaluation of this policy on simulated data for the problem of detecting multiple instances of the same object in an image. Finally, we present experiments on localizing multiple faces simultaneously on real images. Proceedings of the 32 International Conference on Machine Learning, Lille, France, 2015. A Bayesian Framework for Multifeature / Multisensor Integration - Automatic Target Detection and Recognition

This paper describes a new methodology for Automatic Target Recognition in visual images and second generation Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR) images. A system that uses information from multiple features or sensors can employ redundancy, diversity and complementarity to overcome the shortcomings of single-sensor systems and improve performance. In this paper, a general multifeature/multisensor...

Bayesian methods for tracking and localization

In this paper we present Dynamic Bayesian Networks (DBN) as computational framework for the analysis of dynamic systems. We first give a short overview of the work on state estimation and system identification. Then we present two application where the DBN is used: robot localization and the tracking of multiple persons with multiple camera’s.

A multiple UAV system for vision-based search and localization, Report no. LiTH-ISY-R-2865

The contribution of this paper is an experimentally veri ed real-time algorithm for combined probabilistic search and track using multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Distributed data fusion provides a framework for multiple sensors to search for a target and accurately estimate its position. Vision based sensing is employed, using xed downward-looking cameras. These sensors are modeled to...

Three Dimensional Localization of an Unknown Target Using Two Heterogeneous Sensors

Heterogeneous wireless sensor networks consist of some different types of sensor nodes deployed in a particular area. Different sensor types can measure different quantity of a source and using the combination of different measurement techniques, the minimum number of necessary sensors is reduced in localization problems. In this paper, we focus on the single source localization in a heterogene...

Efficiency of Target Location Scenarios in the Multi-Transmitter Multi-Receiver Passive Radar

Multi-transmitter multi-receiver passive radar, which locates target in the surveillance area by the reflected signals of the available opportunistic transmitter from the target, is of interest in many applications. In this paper, we investigate different signal processing scenarios in multi-transmitter multi-receiver passive radar. These scenarios include decentralized processing of reference ...
